Journalistic Communiqué
I would like to tell about an aggressive action I have faced today Tuesday 22-4-2008. At the end of the trial session of the journalist Abdulkareem Al-Khaiwani, member of the “change” Freedom and Human Rights defending organization, taking place at the country’s Security Court- Specialized Penal Court- I was amazingly astonished when the head of the Court -Muhsen Alwan - insulted me while trying to ease his getting angry with the writer and member of the-above mentioned organization, Mohammad Al-Maqaleh.
When I entered the office of the head of the court, asking about Al-maqaleh, whom the head had called on the bases of the proceedings, I found the head so furious towards Al-maqaleh that he was about to attack him. Upon my attempt to understand what happened, Muhsen cursed me even after I told him about being a parliament member, asking his guards to push me, without showing any resistance, out of the room.
It was a very astonishing moment to see such a man behaving in this manner .I could scarcely visit Al-makaleh, who told me the head had attacked him with insults and a throw by an ashtray, after I leaved the office which also pained me.
On the basis of this notice, I would like you to investigate the issue and protect law and human rights of Parliamentarians in Yemen.
