Main Crimes and Attacks faced
Subjected to assassinating trial in 2004 by the son of General Director of private guarding and facilities, Ministry of Interior after I refused to join General Peoples Congress and publishing of report on prisons’ and prisoners’ situation. The trial resulted in killing of my driver. It is worth mentioning that the election of representatives revealed winning of 14 independents, ten of whom joined the regime party and the remaining four, who I am one of, are still independent.
Threatened together with my newspaper staff with killing in 2006 by some Jihadist extremist elements moved by the authority.
Detained and humiliated at political security in Sana’a without considering my immunity, upon a sit-in with civil society organizations held in front of the Sana’a Political Security headquarters. The reason behind this jailing was the arrest of the rights activist Ali Al-Dailami, the Secretary General of Yemen org. of Rights and Freedom Defense, who appeared to have been present at the Political Security Jail after he had been abducted from Sana’a Airport by the Security.
Stopped and driven by force into the police car while I was taking some photographs for the burning of the metal-Houses of the marginalized people in Sana’a 2004.
Physically attacked by the official of Migration and Passports Jail along with three of his sons in June 2007, hand-chained and threatened with killing after a sudden visit to the jail upon my Knowledge of a death case of an Eritrean inmate under vague circumstances.
Verbally insulted by Judge of Security Court- Muhssin Alwan, at his office on 22 April 2008. I gave a relevant complaint to the House, represented by its chairman, Yahya Alraee, and another complaint was also given to Judicial Inspection Head, and a third to Minister of Justice, but absolutely no action was taken.
Subjected to live bullets and tear bombs along with peaceful sit-in organizers in southern governorates, by security Forces on Nov 2007 at Aden Shaikh Othman district.
On Feb 2008 I was accused, as well as my newspaper, with atheism and being enemy of Allah and His Messenger peace be upon him, by regime affiliated parliamentarians and the extremist flank of Islah opposition Party in a session that was aired by Yemen T.V.
Eleven members brought a lawsuit in which they accused me of apostasy and being irreligious. The lawsuit was referred to technical office by the Attorney General, and I will remain threatened with this charge and since it is still pending, the Yemeni law legalizes Capital Punishment.
Violations against permitting performing parliament and rights Tasks
I was prevented form visiting victims of Khamis Mushait burn Incident at Sana’a Al-Gumhouri Hospital, despite the fact that the Al-Tagheer was authorized by the victims to prosecute elements involved.
Prevented from visiting Dammar- based Political Security prison late December 2007, and from that of Sana’a for several times, the last of which was two months ago, despite of a permission by the Attorney General to visit the Jail.
On third of May 2007 I was verbally insulted and stopped getting into the Hudeidah police Jail, however, I was entrusted to make some inspection alongside the field visit of the House Committee of Human rights and Freedom.
Two months ago, I was prevented for several times from visiting the writer, Mohammed Al-Maqaleh, in the Sana’a preventive Jail, and also from entry to the country’s Security Court while this ban has been valid up till now.
Stopped and Inspected by the Dhalia-based security checkpoint while going to Lahj governorate, holding a camera, with the purpose of escorting victims of Radfan Platform to their final resting place, who were killed by Security personnel.
My camera had been confiscated by the head of the House Yahya Ali Alraee for more than three months.
The Head of the House gave verbal order to his Secretary to search me when attended his office, while I was completing arrangements of travel to Geneva.
Violations against my rights of expression and the right to get and exchange information
The government has illegally blocked the Yemenat News online site from internet users for almost six months up till now. The site is specialized in covering events and serving the net users in Yemen. After efforts that lasted for more than six months the gov, represented by the minister of information, refused to give me a license permitting sending short news message via mobile phones.
Al-Mustakilla Forums where also blocked prior to presidential election conducted in 2006. These forums revolve on dialogue and disputes of various issues.
Stopping of Alqabaitta Newsletter, of which I was editor-in-chief at order by Ministry of Information in Oct 2004 after publishing a total of 49 issues.
Demanding of regime affiliated parliament members and extremist flank of Islah apposition party to shut AL-Mustakilla and refer the demand to the committee of Information and Culture to get it considered which is illegal according to Yemen law, apart from ordinary customs of the parliament.
The process of demanding lifting my immunity by a number of parliamentarians, who gave the written demand to the chairman, who referred me to the Committee of constitution as opposed to the valid law, which came as a result of an opinion published within the right to express adopted by the Yemen law and world-sanctioned relevant ethics.
Attacks faced by members and founders of Al-Tahgeer, under my chairmanship
The org membership is made up of eleven parliament members, two of whom, Dr Nasser Khubagi and Salah Alshanfara, are followed by the security forces, threatened with arrest and have been unable to perform their parliament duties for more than a year.
Four founding and leading members have been coercively hidden since more than three months. Other leading members were stopped and illegally searched, while others were decoratively tried, of whom is the writer Mohammed Almaqaleh, sentenced to two months imprisonment for laughing inside the court, and the writer Abdulkareem Alkhiwani, who was sentenced to six years imprisonment for holding CDs on Sa’ada War, unveiling the crimes of the authority.

الشبكة العربية لمعلومات حقوق الإنسان – ANHRI
أدانت الشبكة العربية لمعلومات حقوق الإنسان اليوم بأشد العبارات الملاحقة البوليسية والأمنية، والتي وصلت إلى محاولة الخطف والتهديد بالقتل و التي تمارسها السلطات اليمنية في حق المدون اليمني نشوان عبده علي غانم ، مهندس إتصالات وصاحب مدونة على موقع كاتب http://helal08.katib.org والمحظورة في اليمن الآن، والذي يقيم في العاصمة اليمنية صنعاء. وذلك على خلفية نشره مقالاً حول تداعيات الهجوم الإرهابي على سفارة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في صنعاء، يتهم فيها بعض القيادات السياسية والعسكرية بالضلوع في هذه العملية.
والشبكة العربية تستنكر هذه الحملة القاسية و المخالفة لكل القوانين والمواثيق الدولية والدساتير الشرعية بمافيها دستور جمهورية اليمن، كما تعتبرها مخالفة واضحة وخرق جسيم لمباديء الديمقراطية التي يدعي النظام في اليمن حمايتها ورعايتها. وتطالب الشبكة السلطات اليمنية بإنهاء الملاحقة البوليسية والأمنية . وضمان سلامة المدون وناشط الرأي عبده نشوان وسحب القوات التي تحاصر مسكنه على الفور، وعدم التعرض له. والتحقيق فيما يحدث له من تجاوز سافر للقوانين الوطنية اليمنية. ورفع الحظر عن مدونته في موقع كاتب.
كما تذكر الحكومة اليمنية بالتزاماتها الدولية خاصة بعد أن شاركت في مؤتمر الدول المانحة في 2006 كإحدى الدول الراعية للديمقراطية، بأحترام المواد 19 من الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان، والعهد الدولي في الحقوق المدنية والسياسية واللذان ينصان على حرية الرأي والتعبير بشتى الوسائل.
وفي هذا السياق تناشد الشبكة العربية جميع المؤسسات الحقوقية اليمنية، والعربية والدولية خاصة المؤسسات المانحة للتضامن مع المدون نشوان غانم. والتحرك الفوري لضمان سلامة المدون اليمني نشوان غانم. والضغط على السلطات اليمنية لضمان سلامته الجسدية واستعادة حريته وفك الحصار المضروب حوله. ووقف الانتهاكات والمضايقات في حقه وكذلك التي تمارسها ضد نشطاء الرأي والتعبير في اليمن.
